John Lowrey is the CEO of Chi-X Global. He was named to the position in March 2009, replacing former CEO Tony Mackay, who became chairman. Lowrey was previously managing director of Tokyo-based financial services giant Nomura International, which owns Chi-X Global's majority holder Instinet.
Lowrey began his financial-services career in the London office of investment banker Goldman Sachs, where he eventually directed its equity-trading operations. He later served as head of electronic trading at now-defunct Lehman Brothers and as head of European sales at Knight Securities. He also co-founded global hedge fund Weiss International Management.
