Joseph Scoby is the head of systematic investing and a member of the management and investing committees of Magnetar Capital.
Previously, he was the chief executive of Peak6 Advisors, the hedge fund business owned by Peak6 Investments. Peak6 Investments announced in September 2014 that Scoby would buy out a roughly 50% stake in the hedge fund business and that it would become Achievement Asset Management.
Scoby started his career at the Chicago options trading firm O'Connor & Associates in 1987. O'Connor eventually became part of UBS. He joined Peak6 in January 2012, where he was reunited with his former O'Connor & Associates colleagues Matthew Hulsizer and Jennifer Just, who left O'Connor in 1997 to start Peak6 Investments.
