Kapil Rathi is global head of trading markets at AlphaPoint, a blockchain company that digitizes various assets, where he leads the firm's trading and exchange business. He joined the firm in November 2018.
Prior to joining AlphaPoint, he served as senior vice president, options business development at Cboe Global Markets.
Before that, he was vice president, options business strategy, at BATS Global Markets, where he led business and product development as well as pricing and competitive strategy for Bats Options. He was appointed to the position in March 2015.
Under his leadership, Bats launched its second options exchange, EDGX Options, with a pro-rata model.
Rathi joined BATS on February 23, 2015 after 10 years in key roles at the International Securities Exchange (ISE), most recently as head of product management. He worked closely with Jeromee Johnson, vice president of options business strategy, before Johnson left BATS to go to MIAX.
He was also instrumental in helping develop the International Securities Exchange technology platform, market data products and order routing strategies. He played a large part in building the exchange's complex order book and was also in charge of ISE’s core matching engine, market data products and order routing strategies.
Previously, Rathi worked for SIAC as part of the New York Stock Exchange as well as AT&T and Aithent Inc.
He holds an masters in business administration in finance from the Fordham Graduate School of Business, New York. He also holds Series 4 and 7 licenses.
