Kevin L. Murphy is an options industry executive, author and entrepreneur.

He published his first book in August 2018 called The Three Rooms, which focuses on helping people increase their awareness of their own thoughts and emotions.[1]

He left Citigoup in June 2016 after 33 years there, where he served as a managing director at Citigroup, and was the head of U.S. broker dealer sales. He managed electronic routing and execution of both equities and derivatives for broker-dealer clients.

He also serves as a board member of Cboe Global Markets's six U.S. securities exchanges: Cboe BZX Exchange, Cboe BYX Exchange, Cboe EDGA Exchange, Cboe EDGX Exchange, Cboe Options Exchange and Cboe C2 Options Exchange.

Background

Murphy began his career at Shearson/American Express as a listed options trader in 1982. He later became head of the listed option department at Shearson Lehman Brothers and was also responsible for their option exchange floor operations. After developing the U.S. equity structured products sales team at Salomon Smith Barney he was named co-head of Citigroup’s derivative execution services in 2005.

He is a former exchange official at the American Stock Exchange and is a former chairman of the Securities Industry Association's Options Committee. He was a featured speaker at Futures Industry Association (FIA) conferences and served on the joint FIA/SIA working group on single-stock futures.[2]

He also served on the board of governors of the Boston Options Exchange (BOX) and the board of directors of the Chicago Board Options Exchange. He was also a former chairman of the SIA (SIFMA) Options Committee.[3]
