Kwa Chong Seng
Kwa Chong Seng is an energy and exchange executive who serves as the chairman of the board of the Singapore Exchange (SGX). He took over that role on Sept 22, 2016, succeeding Chew Choon Seng, who retired at that time.
Kwa was elected to the board in September 2012 and was appointed the lead independent director in December 2013. He has been the chairman of both the nominating and governance and the remuneration and staff development committees since September 2013.
He served as chairman and managing director of Exxonmobil Asia Pacific Pte Ltd. from December 1999 to October 2011. He also served as an Asia Pacific Retail Sales Director at Exxonmobil Asia Pacific Pte Ltd from November 2003 to October 2011. Additionally, he served as the president at Esso China Inc. from 1997 to 2011 and its Chairman from 1992 to 2011.
He served as a member of the management board at Energy Studies Institute from 2007 to 2009.
Seng also served addition executive and board roles at APL Co Pte Ltd, APL Logistics Ltd, APL (Bermuda) Ltd, Automar (Bermuda) Ltd and APL Limited, Olam International Limited, DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Limited and Neptune Orient Lines Limited.
He holds a bachelor of engineering degree in mechanical engineering from National University of Singapore.
