Lynette May-Tjuen Lim
Lynette Lim is director & co-CEO of Phillip Capital Inc., a Chicago-based clearing FCM and broker dealer that provides futures, equities and options execution, clearing and custody brokerage services to speculators, hedgers, proprietary trading firms and institutions.
In 2010, Lim and Cameron Frazier co-founded PhillipCapital and became clearing members of the major US exchanges for futures. In 2015 the firm became a clearing broker dealer for US securities. Phillip Capital Inc. is part of PhillipCapital Group of companies’ (“PhillipCapital Group”) first foray into the United States.
The PhillipCapital Group covers 16 countries and offers a suite of financial services including futures, foreign exchange, equities, fixed income, bonds, unit trusts, real estate, and insurance. With shareholder's equity greater than $1 billion and global assets under custody/management greater than $30 Billion, PhillipCapital Group has been profitable each year since its founding. PhillipCapital Group is also privately held with no long-term debt.
Prior to her current role, Lim worked for the PhillipCapital Group for 9 years, where she focused mainly on IT and business development. She managed an IT company within the PhillipCapital Group that developed software for the financial industry including a general insurance quote system and Employment Shares Options Scheme (ESOS). Lim also managed the development of POEMS, which was the first online stock trading system in Singapore and launched in 1996. Other roles at PhillipCapital Group included portfolio management and deal sourcing in the private equity division of PhillipCapital Group while based in California. Lim also taught Pilates and ran a fashion business for three years.
Her monthly column “Letter from the Co-CEO” in PhillipCapital's “Trading Asia Newsletter” is widely read in the industry and around the world. The column often highlights Lim's atypical background as a woman of Chinese descent from Singapore in the C suite and the cultural differences between the eastern and the western world while emphasizing universal truths.
Lim speaks English and Mandarin. She is the oldest daughter of PhillipCapital Group founder and Chairman Lim Hua Min. She holds licenses including 3, 34, 7, and 24.
She received a bachelor's degree in engineering from Warwick University in England and an MBA in general management from University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
