Michael Phillips - Former CEO Frank Russell Company
Michael ("Mike") John Phillips is a Seattle, Washington area financial services professional. He is the chairman of Altaira Wealth Management, a Geneva, Switzerland-based wealth management company. He was formerly the chairman and CEO of Frank Russell Company.
Phillips spent 25 years at Russell Investments, including as Chairman and CEO from 2002 to 2008. He was CEO at Russell Investments Limited from 1993 to 2003, serving as only the third CEO since the company was founded in 1936 following Frank Russell and George Russell.
He joined the firm in 1981 and was promoted to managing director in 1982.
Before joining Russell, from 1971 to 1981 Phillips served as an Investment analyst and portfolio manager at Barclays Investment Management Ltd. In this role, he was managed internationally diversified pension fund assets.
Before starting his career, he spent a year on voluntary service overseas in South Africa before.
He has taught investment courses at City of London Polytechnic School of Business Studies.
Also, in 2006 Phillips served as a representative on the APEC Business Advisory Council after being appointed by the President of the U.S.
Phillips served as the Chairman of 20-20 Investment Association.
Phillips holds a bachelor of laws degree in law from University College of London.
Also, he earned an Associate of Institute of Investment Management and Research designation from London Society of Investment Analysts in 1977.
