Niki Beattie is non-executive chairman of Aquis Exchange, a proposed pan-European equities trading venue scheduled to commence trading in October 2013. She was appointed to the position on March 25, 2013. She is also founder and managing partner of Market Structure Partners, a firm that provides strategic advice on financial market structure to trading platforms, clearing houses, technology firms and market participants.
She is also a non executive director of Credit Agricole Cheuvreux International Ltd and of The Moscow Exchange. She also sits on the Regulatory Decisions Committee of the UK Financial Services Authority and on the Secondary Markets Advisory Committee of the European Securities Markets Authority.
Beattie spent more than 10 years at Merrill Lynch, eventually becoming its head of market structure for EMEA (the emerging markets in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa). In 2001, she ran Merrill Lynch’s first electronic trading desk and client facing technology platform. She was one of Financial News’ top 100 most influential women in European financial markets in 2012.
Beattie holds a BSc in Information Systems and Management from Birbeck College, University of London.
