Richard M. McVey is the chief executive officer and chairman of the board at MarketAxess. He worked for JPMorgan, one of MarketAxess' founding broker-dealers, and was key to the creation of MarketAxess in April 2000.[1]


Before founding MarketAxess, McVey was the managing director and head of fixed income sales in North America at JPMorgan, where he managed the institutional distribution of fixed-income securities to investors. He served in that capacity from 1996 to April 2006, and developed and maintained senior client relationships across market areas such as fixed-income, equities, emerging markets, foreign exchange and derivatives.

McVey was also the head of JPMorgan's futures and options business in North America from 1992 to 1996, which included institutional brokerage, research, operations, finance and compliance. He is on the board of directors at Blue Mountain Credit L.P.


McVey has a B.A. in Finance from Miami (Ohio) University and an MBA from Indiana University.[2]
