Robert Urtheil

Robert Urtheil is a financial industry executive who was formerly European chief executive of MarketAxess, an electronic bond trading platform. He was appointed to that position in March 2013. He joined MarketAxess from Oliver Wyman, where he led the consultancy's global market infrastructure practice.[1] He replaced Paul Ellis, who left the role in July of 2012.

Urtheil joined the business as it completed its £25.3 million acquisition of Xtrakter, with the aim of extending the company’s products to MarketAxess’s buy-side client base.

He resigned from the company in February of 2014.[2]

Background

Urtheil worked for Deutsche Borse between 2000 and 2006, holding a number of senior roles and eventually rising to head of market development and strategy.

Education

He holds an MS.c in Physics and an MA in Business Administration. [3]
