Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange was formed in August 2008 as a trading platform for asset rights, creditors rights, stock rights, IPR which focus on environmental and energy sectors. The exchange is backed by the Shanghai United Assets and Equity Exchange and aims to provide consulting, project design and evaluation for Certified Emission Reduction projects under the United Nations Clean Development Mechanism, according to a government press release and China Daily.
The main focus for the exchange is on property rights, equity and capital from pollutant discharge reduction, environmental protection and energy saving.
The entity was established at the same time at the Beijing Environment Exchange.
