Steve Sparke is a longtime industry executive who is currently group vice chairman of Marex Spectron. He was appointed to that role in March 2018 after ten years at Marex as chief operating officer.
During his time at Marex, he expanded the global footprint of the organisation with new regulated entities and offices opened in New York and Hong Kong and boosted the firm’s presence in Singapore. He directed the integration of multiple businesses, including the high profile acquisition of Spectron.
Sparke's career spans 27 years in the UK financial-services industry, primarily in interest rate trading and futures and options brokerage. Most recently, he was managing director and global head of exchange-traded derivatives at UBS, and has driven a number of the technology-led changes within the futures commission merchant sector.
Before joining Marex Spectron, he was managing director and global head of exchange traded derivatives at UBS from 1994 to 2006 where he launched and led the bank’s ETD Clearing and Execution business. He headed the Short Term Interest Rates business at SBC London Branch from 1987 to 1994.
He has held a number of executive and non-executive directorships, including Euronext.Liffe where he chairs the audit and risk committee, and Patsystems. He is also a special advisor for the Futures Industry Association (FIA) board directors  and a former member of the CFTC Global Markets Advisory Committee. 
Sparke graduated with a law degree from Nottingham University in 1979.
