Thomas J. McMahon is a veteran futures industry professional. He is currently a director at P.A.C.E. Pan Asia Clearing Enterprise.

Previously, McMahon was a member of the advisory board of the Singapore Mercantile Exchange (SMX).[1] He resigned from the position of president at the exchange on May 1, 2011.[2]

Before joining SMX as president, he served as president of the Hong Kong Mercantile Exchange from April 2007 thru March 2009.

He was a longtime member of the NYMEX, a former NYMEX board member and served as NYMEX's director for Asia when the exchange opened a Tokyo office in 2005.[3][4][5][6]

Background

From 1993 to 2003, McMahon handled order execution of natural gas futures and options contracts at the NYMEX. He began his career as a member of the New York Cotton Exchange and the New York Coffee, Sugar and Cocoa Exchange, which later became the New York Board of Trade and is now known as ICE Futures US.

He joined NYMEX as a member in 1982. In 1984, he served as vice chairman of the petroleum advisory committee, prior to the launch of the gasoline futures contract. McMahon was elected to the NYMEX board of directors in 1987 and served as chairman of natural gas advisory and petroleum delivery committee leading up to the launch of the natural gas futures contract.

In 2007, McMahon was president of Commodities Exchange Project, Titan Petrochemicals Group Ltd.[7]

McMahon previously served as a board member of the Japan chapter of the Futures Industry Association (FIA).[8]

Education

McMahon earned a bachelor's degree in history and political science from Washington College in Maryland.[9]
