Tony Weeresinghe was head of global development for the London Stock Exchange. He resigned in June 2014.[1]

Weeresinghe designed and lead the implementation of the LSE's matching engine, MillenniumIT, which he sold to LSE in 2009. MillenniumIT forms the basis of LSE’s trading system.

Background

Weeresinghe joined the LSE in 2009 after selling his Sri Lanka-based company, MillenniumIT, to LSE for $30 million.

He founded MillenniumIT in 1996 and landed a contract from the Colombo Stock Exchange the next year. He stepped back from running MillenniumIT day to day in 2013, appointing Mack Gill as CEO and taking the chairman title.
