Bruce Savage is the Futures Industry Association's head of Europe. He was named to the post in May 2019, replacing Simon Puleston Jones. He oversees FIA's European operations and leads the European Regional Advisory Board.

Savage spent 21 years at Deutsche Bank, where he served in senior roles, including global head of regulatory affairs and market structure, listed derivatives and markets clearing.[1][2]

Background

Savage has been in the derivatives markets since 1993 and spent the bulk of his career in various positions at Deutsche Bank.

He joined Deutsche Bank in October 1997, serving as vice president of listed derivatives for two years before being promoted to global head of electronic execution product and client services in 1999. He served in that role until 2005, when he was named head of product development, listed derivatives and global finance, where worked from 2004 to 2006. After that, he worked as global head of clearing product and client solutions from 2009 to 2011. He was named executive director and a board member at DB UK Bank Ltd. in 2014 and served there until 2018.

Before joining FIA, he was director, global head of regulatory affairs and market structure, listed derivatives and clearing at Deutsche Bank, where he lead the bank's Brexit strategy and implementation for listed and OTC clearing. He was also head of EMIR and MiFID II strategy and implementation.[3]

Prior to joining the bank, he was a board member at OTC Derivnet from March 2005 to September 2015. He started his career in the industry at Euronext Liffe as an assistant manager, market supervision where he served from 1993 to 1997.

Education

Savage earned his bachelor of law degree from The University of Dundee in 1992 and his diploma in legal practice, law in 1993 from The University of Dundee.
