Chew Choon Seng is a Singapore based executive and board member who retired as chairman of the board of the Singapore Exchange (SGX) on September 22, 2016. He was appointed to that role in January 2011, upon the retirement of J Y Pillay. Chew served as a director on the SGX board starting on December 1, 2004.[1] [2][3][4]

Chew also served chairman of the Singapore Tourism Board and a director of the GIC Private Limited.[5]

Background

Until his retirement at the end of 2010, he was the CEO of Singapore Airlines Limited and Deputy Chairman of its listed subsidiary, SIA Engineering Company Limited, and was a member of the Board of Governors of the International Air Transport Association.

Education

Chew graduated with a bachelor of mechanical engineering (First Class Honours) from the University of Singapore in 1969, and a master of science in operations research and management studies from the Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London, in 1970.
