Murray Roos will become group director, capital markets at the London Stock Exchange effective April 1, 2020. He will join the exchange’s executive committee, reporting to chief executive David Schwimmer. Roos will be responsible for LSEG’s global capital markets business across primary and secondary markets. He succeeds Raffaele Jerusalmi, who will step down as group director, capital markets when Roos joins in April.[1]

Roos was previously Citigroup’s global co-head of equities and securities services, along with Dan Keegan, taking over the role in 2016. Before that, he led global equity sales and trading at Citigroup. He also led the multi-asset structuring group.

Background

Prior to joining Citigroup in 2015, Roos spent a decade at Deutsche Bank, holding a number of senior roles including EMEA head of equities, head of emerging markets equities and global head of prime finance. He began his career as a derivatives trader in South Africa.

Before working in equities trading, Roos was a chemical engineer. During his previous career he was known for falling into a vat of anti-foaming agent and having to be pulled out.[2]
