Sandra Ro is a derivatives industry executive who is the CEO of Global Blockchain Business Council. She was previously head of digitization at CME Group. She assumed this role in early 2016 after serving as executive director, FX research & product development.
Ro serves on the board of directors of the Yale University Alumni Fund.
In August 2019 Global Digital Finance (GDF), an industry body in the digital asset space, appointed her to its board of directors as a non-executive director, effective September 1, 2019.
She also serves on the NYS Digital Currency Taskforce and the EU Blockchain Observatory & Forum.
Ro was an early investor in cryptocurrency. During her career, she has held a number of roles with a cryptocurrency focus.
Ro joined the CME Group in 2011 after several years in the banking sector, where she specialized in foreign exchange derivative structuring. She spent four years in the Global Capital Markets division of Morgan Stanley, where she served as vice president in event driven/M&A FX derivatives advisory. Before that, she spent three years as an associate at Deutsche Bank as an FX structurer on the London trading floor.
In 1996, Ro earned a double BA in History and Studies in the Environment from Yale University, with a concentration in the proliferation of chemical and biological weaponry in the 20th Century.
She also earned an MBA in Finance from London Business School in 2004.
