State Street Global Advisors (SSgA) is the world's largest institutional asset manager. It holds $2.0 trillion in assets under management. SSgA is also the investment management arm of State Street Corporation. It offers its worldwide clients access to almost every asset class, capitalization range, region, and style. As of December 2012, SSgA has 440 investment professionals and 2350 employees, with offices in 16 countries across 5 continents.[1]

Products and Services

SSgA is one of the world’s largest institutional asset managers as ranked in the Pensions & Investments 2012 Money Managers Survey, and also one of the largest index managers, with $984 billion in passive equity assets under management globally.[2]

In addition to institutional asset management, SSgA offers securities lending and investment research services. Additionally, SSgA invented the exchange traded fund (ETF) vehicle in 1993, and currently manages over 50 ETF products, including its flagship S&P 500, the Standard & Poor's Depositary Receipts, or "SPDR" ETF.
