Alamos Gold Inc. is engaged in the acquisition, exploration, development and extraction of precious metals in Mexico. The company owns and operates the Mulatos mine (the Mine). In addition, the company holds the mineral rights to the Salamandra group of concessions in the State of Sonora, Mexico, which includes several satellite gold occurrences.

The company owns 100% of the 30,325-hectare Salamandra group of concessions located in the state of Sonora in northwest Mexico.[1]

Alamos Gold Inc. is a member of the World Gold Council.[2]


Alamos Gold was formed on February 21, 2003, as a result of the amalgamation of Alamos Minerals and National Gold. Prior to the merger, both Alamos Minerals and National Gold were involved primarily in mineral exploration activities in North America.

In January 2010, the company announced that it had completed the acquisition of the Agi Dagi and Kirazli gold projects, through the purchase of certain Turkish subsidiaries held by Fronteer Development Group Inc. and Teck Resources Limited. The 14,905-hectare Agi Dagi and Kirazli gold projects, which contained mineral resources and several prospective exploration targets.

Alamos Gold and its subsidiaries are engaged in the acquisition, exploration, development, and extraction of precious metals – primarily gold.[3]

Alamos owns and operates the Mulatos Mine, which is located in the Sierra Madre Occidental mountain range in the east-central portion of the State of Sonora, Mexico. The mine is approximately 220 kilometres by air east of the City of Hermosillo, and 300 kilometres south of the border between the United States of America and Mexico.

Alamos also owns the Ağı Dağı and Kirazlı gold development projects, which are located in Çanakkale Province on the Biga Peninsula of northwestern Turkey. Ağı Dağı is located about 50 kilometres southeast of Çanakkale, and Kirazlı is located approximately 25 kilometres northwest of Ağı Dağı.
