Brian Hyndman is an American businessman who currently serves as the CEO and president of Blue Ocean Technologies, LLC, a financial technology company focused on global after-hours trading of U.S. equities and owner of Blue Ocean ATS.[1][2][3]

Hyndman began his career in the financial services industry, working as an Associate at Waterhouse Securities and later as a Vice President at National Discount Brokers, where he managed a team of 120 employees in the Execution Services division.

BRUT and Nasdaq[edit]

In 1998, Hyndman became the President of BRUT, an electronic communication network (ECN) that competed with various equity markets in the United States. Under his leadership, BRUT merged with Strike Technologies in 2000, was acquired by SunGard Data Systems in 2002, and was eventually sold to Nasdaq in 2004.

After the acquisition, Hyndman joined Nasdaq as senior vice president of transaction services, responsible for managing the operations of U.S. equities trading platforms, including The Nasdaq Stock Market, Nasdaq OMX BX, and Nasdaq OMX PSX.

In 2004, he transitioned to the role of senior vice president of global information services at Nasdaq OMX Group, Inc. In this position, he oversaw the creation and dissemination of valuable information from quoting and trading on Nasdaq OMX's trading systems worldwide, managing teams such as sales, product management, content administration & policy, and new business development.[4]

Blue Ocean Technologies[edit]

In March 2021, Hyndman joined Blue Ocean Technologies, LLC as president and COO. In May 2022, he was appointed as the company's CEO, leading Blue Ocean Technologies into its next phase of growth and overseeing fundraising, business, and product development.

Blue Ocean Technologies operates Blue Ocean ATS, an alternative trading system that facilitates trading in U.S. National Market System stocks during evening and overnight hours when major U.S. stock exchanges are closed. The company aims to transform U.S. trading into a more globally accessible 24/7 market structure.

Licenses and Certifications[edit]

Hyndman has held various licenses from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and the National Association of Securities Dealers, including the Series 4, 7, 24, 27, 53, and 63 licenses.[5]

Hyndman attended Farmingdale State College, where he obtained an Associate's degree in business administration and management. He later graduated from the State University of New York College at Oswego with a Bachelor's degree in psychology and business.
