Donald E. Roberts
Donald E. "Donnie" Roberts is a derivatives executive who is the president and CEO of the Small Exchange, a startup that aims to be a client-centric futures exchange, pending regulatory approval.[1] Background[edit]Before joining the Small Exchange, he was chief compliance officer and managing director of futures and forex for Thinkorswim, a derivatives brokerage platform acquired by TD Ameritrade in 2009.[2][3][4] Roberts holds several financial licenses including:
Roberts came to Chicago after graduate school and joined the trader development program of Timber HIll. After starting as a trade checker and passing through the program and the CBOE membership test, Roberts traded options on the CBOE trading floor. He left the trading floor to join Interactive Brokers, which was owned by Timber Hill. He took a sales job with Interactive Brokers and sold their trading screen to brokers around the industry. He later joined Tom Sosnoff in a startup called Think or Swim. After rising from chief compliance officer to chief operating officer, he moved with Think or Swim to TD Ameritrade when it acquired the firm. He then served as head of TD Ameritrade futures and forex operations.
