Douglas Engmann is an options trader, financial services executive and former exchange chairman who is the chairman of Sage Brokerage Holdings.[1] He is also the owner of Engmann Options, a San Francisco-based private investment and securities consulting firm, and a senior advisor to WarpForge.

Engmann was a market-maker on the Pacific Stock Exchange, where he also served as executive chairman in 1987.[2]

He is a housing activist who authored Proposition F in San Francisco, CA, which sought to "impose a 75-day annual limit on short-term rentals."[3][4]

Background[edit]

Engmann is the chairman of the parent company of SageTrader, LLC, a professional securities firm serving small hedge funds, proprietary trading groups and active traders.[5]

He served as co-chairman of Revere Data, LLC from 2000 to 2013. Also, he was bestowed the title of "Honorary Consul of the Netherlands."[6]

In March of 2020, Engmann commented to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission about portfolio margining.[7] While at Fimat, Engmann pioneered the use of portfolio margining under the pilot project approved by the SEC in 2005.

Engmann served as the head of North American Equities for Fimat/Newedge USA from 2005 to 2008. He has also served as vice-chairman of ABN AMRO Bank N.V. from 1998 to 2004.

Additionally, Engmann served as chairman of Preferred Trade from 1982 to 1998.

He served as the executive chairman of the Pacific Stock Exchange from January 1987 to November 1987.

Engmann has served on the board of the National Securities Clearing Corporation, International Securities Clearing Corporation, Options Clearing Corporation and on the Pacific Exchange as a member of the board of governors, vice-chairman, and acting chairman.[8]

He has also been a member of the risk advisory committee of New York Portfolio Clearing, a joint venture between DTCC and the New York Stock Exchange.[9]

Engmann holds a Bachelor of Arts in the field of economics from the University of California, Berkeley. He also holds a Master of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the field of economics.
