Elizabeth Rossiello
Elizabeth Rossiello is the CEO and Founder of BitPesa, an Africa-focused bitcoin service provider. BitPesa[edit]Rossiello founded BitPesa in 2013. She told Bloomberg that Bitpesa's goal was to gain a 1 percent share of the Kenyan remittance market within a year of launching the service. Rossiello also said, "There are no other market entrants trying to solve the problem of the very high cost of remittances in Africa." According to the World Bank, remittances to Kenya at that time averaged 9.2 percent of the total transferred.[1] By October 2016 Bitpesa had operations in Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo.[2] Rossiello has worked in Kenya as a microfinance analyst and investment associate since 2009. She is an expert in East African financial product development and establishing best practices in risk, governance and IT for local banks. Prior to her work in East Africa, she served as an analyst at Credit Suisse in Zurich and a Robert Bosch Fellow in Frankfurt.[3] Education[edit]Rossiello received an M.A. from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs and a B.A. in Political Science, German and Italian from the State University of New York College at Buffalo.
