Gaurang Desai
Gaurang Desai is an advisor to the United Arab Emirates regulatory agency Securities and Commodities Authority. Before that, he was chief executive officer of the Dubai Gold & Commodities Exchange from August 2015 to February 2018.[1] Background[edit]Desai joined DGCX in 2005 and was one of the founding team members that created the exchange. He had previously served as the interim chief executive officer of DGCX beginning in 2014, as well as the chief operating officer.[2][3][4] He had held the latter position since the exchange's inception in 2005.[5] He was appointed interim CEO when former CEO Gary Anderson stepped down because of ill health. During his 12 years at DGCX, Desai was responsible for introducing several technology and product innovations which helped the exchange deliver a record 17.4 million contracts with an underlying value of more than US$ 400 billion in 2017. Before joining DGCX, Desai was assistant vice president of operations and projects for the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange, NCDEX, in India. He has also served as a senior manager and founder member of ExchangeNext group of business to business verticals for Reliance Industries Limited.
