Haruhiko Kuroda is the governor of the Bank of Japan, the country's central bank. He was nominated on February 28, 2013 to succeed Masaaki Shirakawa, who stepped down on March 19, 2013.[1]. Kuroda is known as a proponent of more aggressive stimulus for the Japanese economy.

Kuroda served as president of the Asian Development Bank from February 2005 to March 2013.[2]
Before joining ADB, Kuroda was special advisor to the cabinet of Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and a professor at the Graduate School of Economics at Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo.

He holds a BA in Law from the University of Tokyo and a Master of Philosophy in Economics from the University of Oxford.
