An individual who is said to be "hawkish" is someone who takes an aggressive stance toward interest rates. For example, if there is a threat of high inflation, to describe the reserve bank of a country as being hawkish may mean they are leaning toward a stronger action such as favoring an increase in interest rates to dampen high inflation. The antonym of hawkish is dovish.[1][2]
