ICE Clear Singapore is clearing house and central counterparty for ICE Futures Singapore. It is the successor to SMX Clearing, which was acquired by ICE in 2013. Both ICE Clear Singapore and ICE Futures Singapore launched on November 17, 2015, and operate under the oversight of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).

History[edit]

Beginning as SMX Clearing in 2010, then owned by Financial Technologies (India) Ltd, as a clearing house for the Singapore Mercantile Exchange. It was acquired by ICE in on November 19, 2013 after fallout from the Jignesh Shah scandal. ICE announced it would transition the exchange and clearing house to its trading and clearing platforms.[1]

The first three clearing members of ICE Clear Singapore were KGI Ong Capital Pte Ltd, Phillip Futures Pte Ltd and UOB Bullion and Futures Ltd. They joined the exchange in June of 2015.[2] J.P. Morgan joined them as a clearing member in September of 2016.[3]
