The ICE Trading Platform is the fully electronic trade execution platform developed and operated by the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) Inc. The platform brings market access and transparency to participants in more than 50 countries.[1]

The ICE Trading Platform uses Web ICE, a secure browser-based front powered by the Java Plug-In. Web ICE provides instant access to ICE's over-the-counter and futures markets with industry standard data security and encryption technology. Web ICE will work over the Internet as well as over direct or private lines.[2]

An improved ICE platform delivers average transaction times of 3 milliseconds in ICE futures markets, and a blended average of 7 milliseconds for futures and OTC markets, combined with reliability of 99.99% during 2007. A multi-year enhancement initiative has produced consistency in performance, with less than 0.5% of all futures transactions resulting in transaction time over 50 milliseconds, according to the exchange.[3]

ICE is expected to make technological enhancements in 2008, including developing an effective technology solution to bring options trading to its electronic platform. Through strategic hiring and the acquisition of Chatham Energy Partners in October 2007, ICE assembled a team with options technology experience and customer relationships to develop an electronic options solution.
