It is the largest European-based company providing these services and is listed on the FTSE250 index of the London Stock Exchange.[1]

JLT has offices in six continents and offers its services in more than 120 countries.

It was announced in early March of 2007 that ICAP and Jardine Lloyd Thompson would form a joint venture to develop derivatives that insurers could use to protect themselves from unpredictable risks such as catastrophes. The venture, which would be called Icap-JLT and be equally owned by both companies, would initially focus on four types of risks faced by insurers: catastrophe, property, longevity and political.[2]

Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group was formed in February 1997 by the merger of Jardine Insurance Brokers and Lloyd Thompson Group. Lloyd Thompson was founded in 1981 and listed on the London Stock Exchange in October 1987. The merger combined Lloyd Thompson’s specialist skills in the London Market with Jardine Insurance Broker’s international network which included a significant presence in the Asia Pacific region.
