John Barun is the head of enterprise technology at Susquehanna International Group. [1]

He was previously the managing director and chief information officer of Geneva Trading USA, LLC. [2] He resigned from Geneva Trading in late 2010.

Before that he was president and chief executive officer of Capital Markets Consulting (CMC), which shut its doors in the summer of 2009 when Barun was hired as CIO of Geneva Trading.[3]

He is a member of the Futures Industry Association (FIA) and has written several white papers on technology concepts. He has spoken at industry events on topics related to trading technology.

Biography[edit]

Barun was previously president and CEO of Capital Markets Consulting, a technology firm that provided consulting services focused on the development of business plans and the implementation of systems in the capital markets industry. He founded the company in 1996.

Barun has been intimately involved in a number of capital market initiatives, including the development of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange's first "E-mini" electronic futures contract and the development of a wireless handheld trading system deployed on the floor of the American Stock Exchange, Philadelphia Stock Exchange, Chicago Board Options Exchange and Pacific Stock Exchange.

Barun has also acted as a subcommittee advisor to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission's (CFTC) technology advisory committee. In April of 2008 he joined leaders from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and CFTC, along with a handful of firm representatives, to participate in the World Research Group's Algo Options and Futures Conference.[4]
