John W. Von Stein is the chief operating officer (COO) at the Saudi Stock Exchange. [1]


Prior to joining the Saudi Stock Exchange, Von Stein was the executive vice president and chief information officer (CIO) of The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC).[2] He joined OCC in 2004 and was responsible for all OCC technology services. Prior to joining OCC, Von Stein was vice president of information technology (IT) at Cargill Inc. (Cargill). In his 10 years at Cargill, he held the following positions: VP of IT for Cargill's Latin America Region, Global IT Leader for the Grain and Oilseed Supply Chain Platform, Divisional CIO of Cargill Investor Services, and Global Information Technology Manager of Cargill Energy Trading. Prior to joining Cargill, Von Stein worked in several capacities including trading operations management, financial services consulting and sales/marketing for Louis Dreyfus Energy Corp., Deloitte & Touche Consulting, and IBM respectively.[3]


Von Stein is a member of OCC’s Industry wide Operations Roundtable and chairs OCC’s Industry wide Technology Roundtable. Other memberships include the Sierra Ventures CIO Advisory Board, the technology strategy committee of the Executives Club of Chicago and CIO executive council.


Von Stein has a B.S. from Quinnipiac University, an MBA from University of Bridgeport and is a SIFMA Securities Industry Institute graduate from Wharton.
