Jonathan B. Werts
Jon Werts is the head of broker-dealer execution services for Bank of America Merrill Lynch. In addition to managing the firm's broker-dealer execution services, Werts oversees futures and Instaquote, the direct market access technology from Bank of America Merrill Lynch.[1][2] Werts is a member of the board of directors at American Red Cross Greater Chicago Area.[3] In June of 2012, Werts was appointed to OCC's board of directors.[4] Background[edit]Prior to joining the firm, Werts served from June 2005 to September 2007 as vice president of derivative products at NYSE Arca, heading up the U.S. options exchange's operations. Werts also worked as vice president of derivative products for Archipelago from June 2004 to June 2005, when the firm was purchased by the NYSE. Prior to that, he worked from 2001 to 2005 at the Pacific Exchange.[5] From June 1993 to June 2001, Werts was vice president at Pershing Trading Company, heading its West Coast trading, as head of specialist operations for the firm. Werts was interviewed by ONN TV in September 2009 about the options industry and algorithmic trading. In July 2009, Werts was part of the Bank of America Merrill Lynch team which rolled out four new algorithms to the company's algorithmic trading platform.[6] In June 2008, he was named to the Chicago Board Options Exchange's board of directors, and serves as off-floor (industry) director.[7] Education[edit]Werts is a graduate of California State University, Hayward.
