Ken Tropin is chairman, founder and principal of Graham Capital Management and a long-time veteran of the managed futures space. He founded Graham Capital Management in 1994 and has grown it into one of the leading alternative investment managers in the industry. His responsibilities at Graham include: chairman of the management and investment committees, senior member of the risk and compliance committees, and managing the firm's quantitative and discretionary strategies. He is also responsible for handling the investment of Graham's proprietary trading capital.
Tropin was awarded the lifetime achievement award at the Managed Futures Pinnacle Awards by the CME Group and BarclayHedge in June 2012. He received this award based on his contribution to the development and progression of the managed futures industry.
Prior to founding Graham Capital, Tropin served as president and CEO of John W. Henry & Co. from 1989 to 1993 and as senior vice president and director of managed futures at Dean Witter Reynolds from 1981 to 1989. He also served as president of Demeter Management Corporation, and chairman of the Managed Funds Association and its predecessor organization Managed Futures Association.
Tropin graduated from Goddard College in 1974.
