Kevin McClear is corporate risk officer at the Intercontinental Exchange, responsible for enterprise risk management, corporate insurance and business continuity and planning at ICE’s clearing houses, exchanges, data and benchmark services.[1]


Mr. McClear previously served as the general counsel and corporate secretary of ICE Clear Credit, ICE’s U.S. clearinghouse for credit default swaps. He started there in March of 2009. [2]

McClear joined The Clearing Corporation in March of 1999 and served several roles there, president, COO, general counsel and corporate secretary.[3]

Prior to that he was assistant general counsel of the Chicago Board of Trade.[4]

From 1989 to 1991, he traded futures and futures options as a member of the CBOT and MidAmerica Commodity Exchange. His floor experience includes trading and brokering of futures, futures options, intercommodity futures and options spreads, and complex volatility options spreads. While trading, he worked part-time for the law firm of Silets and Martin, where he practiced general commodities law.

Prior to joining the CBOT, McClear worked as a commercial litigator with law firm Hinshaw, Culbertson, Mohlman, Hoban and Fuller.


He earned his law degree from Northwestern University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Denison University.
