Before starting Kalshi, she spent time at Bridgewater Associates, Citadel, and Five Rings Capital. Background Lara grew up in Brazil, where she won the Gold medal in the Brazilian Astronomy Olympiad and a Bronze Medal at the Santa Catarina Mathematics Olympiad. While a student in the United States, she met Tarek Mansour and they created Kalshi. The platform later raised US$100 million from venture investors. She was also a professional ballet dancer. Before co-founding Kalshi, she was a researcher at the MIT Brain and Cognitive Science Center, from May 2018 - December 2019. She was also a quantitative trader at Citadel Securities from June 2018 - August 2018. She was also a quantitative trader at Five Rings Capital in New York City from January 2018 - February 2018.
