Marché à Terme International de France
Marché à Terme International de France (MATIF), established in 1986 by the French Treasury[1], now Euronext Paris S.A., is France's futures exchange. MATIF was absorbed in the merger of the Paris Bourse with Euronext NV. A specialized financial institution governed by French banking law, Euronext Paris S.A. is the operational managing body of MATIF.
A fully electronic market, all Euronext Paris S.A. products were originally traded on the NSC-VF match engine. Later, when Euronext acquired LIFFE in 2002, derivatives trading moved to LIFFE CONNECT, originally the platform of the London International Financial Futures Exchange (LIFFE).[2]
Futures and options on Euronext Paris include interest rate products (e.g. 3-month PIBOR-Paris Interbank Offered Rate; 5-year Euro) and commodities, and MONEP, equity and index futures and options (most notably the the CAC 40, an index that represents a capitalization-weighted measure of the 40 most significant values among the 100 highest market caps on the Paris Bourse).
Trading hours are 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Paris time, Monday through Friday, and all clearing is done through LCH.Clearnet.
