Masaaki Shirakawa is an advisory board member at Promontory Financial Group and a special professor of international politics and economics at Aoyama Gakuin University.
Shirakawa served as the governor of the Bank of Japan from 2008 to 2013. He joined the Bank of Japan in 1972.
He received a B.A. in Economics from The University of Tokyo in 1972 and an M.A. in Economics in 1977 from the University of Chicago.
