Michael Walinskas is executive vice president and chief risk officer at The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC). He was promoted to that position on Dec. 21, 2011 from senior vice president, risk management and membership. 
In that position, he is responsible for an expanded enterprise risk management function that includes analyzing and reporting on operational risk, strategic risk, financial risk, and systemic risk, and reporting on these areas to OCC's board and regulators. He will also manage OCC's government relations process and serve as the primary liaison with regulators and other external industry organizations.
He is a member of the Maryland bar.
Before joining OCC in 1999, Walinskas served on the staff of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). As a former associate director within the SEC’s Division of Market Regulation, he played a key role in the development of the SEC’s position on many important equity and derivatives markets issues, and served as a manager responsible for regulatory oversight of the U.S. stock and options exchanges.
Walinskas graduated from Calvert Hall College High School in Towson, Maryland.  He received a J.D. degree from Georgetown University and a B.S. degree from the University of Maryland.
