The Midwest Research Institute is a center for applied research and technology development. It was established in 1944 with a mission to supply needed research for industry and to encourage programs using regional resources.
MRI's accomplishments have ranged from perfecting the coating process for M&M candies to cancer research and pioneering environmental efforts.
MRI's board of directors and trustees include heads of industry and the marketplace such as Malcolm Aslin, a member of the board of directors of M&I Bank, Thomas Hoenig, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and Kevin Kissinger, Chief Operations & Technology Officer of Citigroup.[1]
