Mike du Plessis
Mike du Plessis is a capital markets professional who is currently a senior managing director for TP ICAP.[1][2][3] He joined TP ICAP in 2019 after nine years with UBS.[4][5] Background[edit]Before joining TP ICAP, du Plessis spent 4 months on garden left and rehabbed a beach house as a self defined "labourer & plogger." He continued his apprenticeship in "carpentry, plumbing and plastering." He worked for UBS for 9 years leaving the firm in 2019 as a managing director. He held various roles in London and New York including as global head of FX, rates and credit execution services. He was a member of UBS's FX, rates and credit executive committee, a member of the FRC Fixed Income Design Council and head of SEF execution. He has direct responsibility for the profitability of revenue producers in London, Zurich, Tokyo, Singapore, Sydney, Sao Paolo, New York and Chicago.[6] At FIA Europe, du Plessis served as a board member from 2013 to 2014. He has also served as a managing director at Deutsche Bank, where he was a producer in listed options, swaptions and CDS indexes. He also served as the European head of fixed income listed derivatives at Deutsche Bank. He was a partner at Cube Financial, which was acquired by Societe Generale in 2007. At Lehman Brothers, he was director of hedge fund sales. He was a manager of institutional sales at Industrial Bank of Japan. He began his career in the capital markets as a floor broker for NatWest Markets in London at the LIFFE, where he started as a graduate trainee.
