Milan Galik is the chief executive officer, president and director at Interactive Brokers Group, LLC. He was appointed to that role effective in the third quarter of 2019. He was appointed to that role in January 2019, succeeding Thomas Peterffy, who retired as CEO on his 75th birthday. Galik has been with Interactive Brokers for 28 years and has served as its president since 2014. He has been a member of the company's board of directors since its initial public offering in 2007.
Galik joined Interactive Brokers in 1990 as a software developer after he was recruited by Thomas Peterffy, the company's founder. After trading European derivatives for the firm, he moved to Frankfurt, Germany in 1991, where he helped launch Interactive Brokers' German operations and ran the derivatives trading desk on the first electronic exchange in Frankfurt.
He returned to the United States in 1992 and helped build Interactive Brokers' automated market making systems. Over time he switched his focus to building the firm's electronic brokerage segment.
Galik is on the Boards of BOX Holdings Group LLC and its subsidiary, BOX Options Market LLC.
He received his graduate degree from the Budapest University of Technology & Economics.
