Richard Jaycobs is a veteran futures industry executive who replaced Neal Wolkoff as chief executive officer of ELX Futures, L.P. in 2012.[1][2]

He has served as CEO of the Cantor Exchange, a wholly owned division of Cantor Fitzgerald, L.P.[3]

Previously, Jaycobs was the chief executive officer of onExchange from 1998 to 2004. He was named CEO of The Clearing Corp. in March 2005,[4] and also worked for the New York Cotton Exchange.[5]

When he joined onExchange, Jaycobs had more than 20 years of experience in the futures industry. He founded Acknowledge Systems in 1998 to develop trading engines and market database applications using Web technologies. In 2000, Acknowledge Systems was renamed onExchange and became the first Internet-based futures exchange and clearinghouse approved under the Commodity Futures Modernization Act. Before founding Acknowledge Systems, Jaycobs was director of business development at the investment firm Computer Trading Corporation.

From 1993 to 1995 Jaycobs was the chief technology officer at Tudor Investment Corporation. From 1986 until 1993, he was the managing director of the Financial Instrument Exchange (FINEX) in New York. He also founded the Futures Industry Association’s Information Technology Division, of which he was president. Jaycobs began his career as a treasury analyst at the Singer Company.[6]

Jaycobs is a frequent speaker at technology and derivatives industry conferences. He has given presentations at the International Futures Industry Conference, CFO Magazine’s Capital Markets Conference, Online Energy Exchanges 2000, Futures & Options EXPO 2000, eB2Bmarketplace World Conference, NetMarketMakers groundZero3, Online Exchanges 2000, ICG’s Sales & Marketing Forum, and the Risk Technology Conference 2000. He has also written numerous articles on corporate risk management, especially in the area of foreign exchange. His articles have appeared in @Markets, Risk and Euromoney.
