Rich Mackey is a Chicago-based futures and securities trading professional. He is currently a managing director with Prime Trading, LLC.
Previously, he was the president of Bakkt Clearing.
Mackey served as deputy president of Rosenthal Collins Group before the back office operations was acquired by Bakkt. He was promoted to that role in February of 2018 after having been executive vice president of strategic initiatives for the group.
Mackey has more than 20 years of trading, operations and management experience in the financial futures and securities markets. He began his trading career in the soybean pit of the MidAmerica Commodity Exchange, a smaller exchange owned by the Chicago Board of Trade the has ceased operations.
Mackey later moved to the ten-year note pit of the CBOT, where he filled orders for institutional clients, including Solomon Brothers.
In 2002, Mackey became a fixed income securities trader after leaving Rosenthal Collins Group ("RCG").
Mackey also served as the treasurer for Peak6 Advisors, which grew from $150 million to $2 billion assets under management while there.
However, he returned to RCG in 2006 in their risk department, where he supervised all risk management functions. There he helped develop proprietary risk management software for RCG.
Mackey holds a bachelor of science from DePaul University. He also holds Series 3, 4, 7 and 24 licenses.
Mackey participated in MarketsWiki Education World of Opportunity in Chicago in July of 2017 at the Stuart School of Business at Illinois Techn.
