Robbie McDonnell is the head of Australian business for The Confidere Group. He joined the company in that role in March 2020.[1]

McDonnell is a long-time Trading Technologies veteran who was mostly recently head of TT's Asia business, based in Sydney. He left the firm after a reorganization of the sales and customer service division of TT in June 2017.[2]

Background[edit]

McDonnell relocated to Asia in 2006 and spearheaded TT’s recruitment and business development drive. Previously, he served as managing director of the company’s London operation. He first joined TT as a member of the original London sales team in 1998. He worked with the City’s major proprietary trading firms and banks to establish TT’s presence there, and he witnessed first-hand the shift from open outcry to screen-based trading. Under his leadership, TT’s London office expanded from three to more than 40 in London. McDonnell developed strong ties in the European trading community that have been integral to TT’s global success.

Until July 2014, he was based in Sydney, and served as vice president and managing director for Asia/Pacific sales at TT, managing all of TT’s Asia/Pacific sales operations, including TT’s regional headquarters in Singapore plus offices in Hong Kong, Tokyo and Sydney.

In 2014 he was promoted to EVP Global Sales from VP/Managing Director of Asia/Pacific at TT. He relocated from Sydney to TT's headquarters in Chicago, reporting to CEO Rick Lane. In that role he was responsible for leading TT’s worldwide sales operation.[3] [4]

He returned to Sydney in 2016 after heading up sales for TT in Chicago for two years. The move was part of a reorganization of senior sales roles at the Chicago-headquartered company.[5]

He is a published author and a frequent speaker at industry events.[6]

Before joining TT, McDonnell held senior sales management positions with Dow Jones Markets and FutureSource in London.

Education[edit]

McDonnell was born and educated in Dublin.
