Russell Rhoads, CFA, is head of research and consulting at EQDerivatives.[1]

He was previously head of derivatives research at TABB Group, which he joined in that role in July 2018.

Earlier, he was director of education at the Cboe Options Institute, where he taught a variety of options courses for public and institutional investors. He joined the CBOE in 2009. His career spans more than 25 years and includes positions with several buy-side firms.[2]

Rhoads is the author of five books: Candlestick Charting for Dummies; Option Spread Trading: A Comprehensive Guide to Strategies and Tactics; Trading VIX Derivatives: Trading and Hedging Strategies Using VIX Futures, Options and Exchange Traded Notes; The Warren Buffet Way, 3rd Edition Workbook; and Trading Weekly Options: Strategies for Short-Term Market Moves. He has edited books on investing for Wiley Publishing and regularly contributes options education articles to financial publications.

In addition to his responsibilities at The Options Institute, Rhoads was an instructor for the Options Industry Council (OIC) – an educational organization representing the entire U.S. options industry. He also serves as an adjunct instructor at Benedictine University in Naperville, Illinois and the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Background[edit]

Before joining The Options Institute, Rhoads worked as a trader and an investment analyst at several companies, including: Highland Capital Management, Caldwell & Orkin Investment Counsel, TradeLink Securities and Millennium Management.

Education[edit]

Rhoads graduated from the University of Memphis with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1992 and a Master of Science degree in Finance in 1994. He also received a Masters Certificate in Financial Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology in 2003.
