Stephen Friedman is a former chairman of the board of directors of the New York Federal Reserve. He resigned from the that position in May of 2009 after it emerged that he was actively trading Goldman Sachs stock at the height of the 2008 financial crisis while having inside knowledge of the bailout negotiations.
