Stephen Humenik is a legal professional with extensive experience in regulatory compliance, derivatives, and capital markets. He currently serves as the senior vice president (SVP), global head of capital markets, and head of clearing for Crypto.com.

Background[edit]

His early career saw him working at law firms and governmental agencies, including roles at Squire Patton Boggs and the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). He served as a senior trial attorney in the Division of Enforcement at the CFTC for over five years, where he handled complex legal matters related to commodities and derivatives.

Following his tenure at the CFTC, Humenik held positions of increasing responsibility, including serving as general counsel and chief regulatory officer at Eris Exchange, LLC, and later as partner at K&L Gates, where he advised a diverse clientele on regulatory compliance and transactional matters.

He served as the co-chair of the securities, capital markets, and derivatives subcommittee of the American Bar Association's Banking Law Committee.

Humenik joined Crypto.com in 2022, initially serving as vice president (VP), global head of derivatives, before being promoted to SVP, global head of derivatives legal, and subsequently to his current role as SVP, global head of capital markets, and head of clearing.

Beyond his role at Crypto.com, Humenik was appointed as a member of the digital asset markets subcommittee of the Global Markets Advisory Committee at the CFTC, where he collaborates with industry stakeholders and regulatory authorities to address challenges in digital asset markets.

Education[edit]

Humenik holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science and sociology from Penn State University and a Juris Doctor in securities law from The Catholic University of America.
