Steven M. Sears
Steven M. Sears is the president and COO of Options Solutions, a specialized, asset-management firm that was created to help high-net-worth investors add conservative options trading strategies to their portfolios. He also is a contributing columnist at Barron’s where he writes the Striking Price. Background[edit]He previously served as the full-time options editor for Barron's and Barrons.com, writing an options column called The Striking Price Daily.[1] Sears previously reported for Dow Jones Newswires and The Wall Street Journal. He launched options market coverage for both publications. His reporting of the options industry revealed the existence of a non-competitive “gentlemen’s agreement” between American Stock Exchange, Chicago Board Options Exchange, Pacific Exchange and Philadelphia Stock Exchange that led to a Justice Department anti-trust investigation of the options industry. This prompted a Securities and Exchange Commission investigation, and eventually culminated in a forced overhaul of the industry’s regulatory structure. He also worked as director of corporate affairs at the International Securities Exchange and as senior advisor to the chairman of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange. Education[edit]Sears holds a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from The University of Georgia. References[edit]
