Stuart Bailey is vice president, clearing policy and operations at the Futures Industry Association (FIA). He started in that role in December 2018. The role includes overseeing the European Operations Committee, working closely with global advocacy staff on clearinghouse issues, and working with the London team on European policy and regulation.

Bailey has more than 16 years of experience in the clearinghouse risk management field. [1]

Background

Before joining the FIA, Bailey was director of risk management at ICE Clear Europe from November 2007 to May 2018. He was part of the original team that worked on the clearinghouse’s launch in the aftermath of the financial crisis and helped with its expansion over the next decade, including managing the default of MF Global in 2011.

Earlier, he was a risk manager at Mizuho International in London, and before that he was a risk analyst at LCH.Clearnet.

Education

Bailey earned a BA (Hons) from the University of Brighton in International Finance and Capital Markets. He also served in the British Army.
